The article discusses the problem of forming the research activities of future primary school teachers. The author, based on a review of the pedagogical and methodological literature devoted to the problem of research, comprehensively examines the concept of "scientific research activity". Based on the analyzed scientific literature, the researcher consistently systematizes the views of scientists and substantiates his understanding of the formation of research activities of future primary school teachers.
The author, relying on the works, concludes that research activities should be the basis of modern university students' training, since modern society needs specialists who are able to accept new ideas, make non-standard decisions, actively participate in innovation processes and are ready to competently solve research problems. In addition, describing the research activity of a future teacher, defining it as a universal way of assimilating reality, emphasizing its profound nature, considers its components as: searching for an answer to a creative, research task with an unknown solution in advance, to put forward and confirm hypotheses, conduct independent experiments, analyze and design.
