The article examines the place and role of assessment in the educational process, modern tools for evaluating learning outcomes, types and positions of assessment, stages and approaches of assessments. The authors of the article, having considered the international and Kazakhstani assessment systems, will focus on the meaning and basic principles of assessment. It will focus on criteria-based assessment technologies, features and prerequisites of the criteria-based assessment system in the updated education system. In addition, questions such as, What problematic issues exist in this assessment system? Are students satisfied with the assessment system or not? What are the achievements and disadvantages of this assessment system? they also form the basis of the article. The article presents effective approaches and research for monitoring, differentiating and evaluating the results of this problem.
The purpose of the study: the ability to use assessment tools in accordance with the purpose and content of education, to differentiate the current state of methods and methods for diagnosing students' achievements, to suggest ways to use criteria-based assessment to make a decision about further education.
