This article reveals the role of the case study method in the development of cognitive independence of older preschool children. Based on the analysis of scientific research, the author defines the concept of "case study", considers the structural components of the method - motivational; content-operational and volitional.
The author proposes a model for the development of cognitive independence of older preschool children by the case study method, the content of which presents the types of case drawings, case illustrations, role-playing design
Based on the results of the study, recommendations are given on the use of various types of keis tasks in organized activities in fiction, speech development and familiarization with the environment with the justification of scientific approaches, rules, and requirements for the use of case studies in preschool education. Considerable attention is paid to diagnostic methods aimed at determining the level of cognitive independence of older preschool children using a case study.
