ON THE PECULIARITIES OF TECHNOLOGY-INTEGRATED NARRATIVE COMPETENCE FORMATION OF FUTURE FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHERS

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of technologies integration in the formation of future foreign language teachers’ narrative competence. The authors highlight the importance of narrative competence formation as an integral part of intercultural communicative competence of specialists in the field of foreign language teaching and displays positive synergetic effect of integrating innovative technologies stimulating professional readiness and creativity of foreign language specialists. As a source of linguistic, cultural and extra linguistic knowledge an authentic narrative text represents the conceptual picture of the foreign language world and is regarded as a source of subject content in the process of developing narrative competence of future FL teachers. The research indicates that technology-integrated participants performed significantly better than jigsaw reading participants, in terms of academic, collaborative skills, critical thinking and narrative competence formation.
