Leisure is free time devoted to the formation of a person's creativity, value behavior towards their health, sports, traveling, reading books, attending cultural events, games, etc. self–development. This time should contribute to the psychological, physiological and spiritual development of a person in accordance with his characteristics. For the proper organization of free time, a person needs knowledge and skills in planning his leisure time.
The article makes a theoretical analysis of the definitions and judgments of domestic and foreign scientists in the field of pedagogy and psychology to the concept of "leisure", suggests ways of implementation in practice. Special attention is paid to the ways of effective organization of children's leisure, which is one of the urgent problems of our time.
