This article studied the theoretical foundations of the formation of digital thinking of future primary school scientists. The characteristics and structures, indicators of digital and computational thinking, their similarities and differences are relatively studied. The works of foreign and domestic authors are analyzed. Computational thinking is a small, technical concept aimed at solving problems by informational methods, and digital thinking is a broad concept that includes the extensive skills and computational thinking necessary for effective work with digital technologies.
In addition, the concept of digital thinking is defined as a separate concept. The theoretical foundations of the competence of digital thinking are determined pedagogically and psychologically. Based on these analyzes, the concepts of "digital thinking," "competence of digital thinking" are determined.
Theories of the formation of competencies of digital thinking of novice teachers analyzing foreign and domestic research are based. The competence of primary school teachers in the field of digital thinking is due to its full use of digital technologies in the language of these technologies.
