The empirical section describes the progress of diagnostic work. A total of 76 respondents are involved in the experimental and control groups and the results are provided. The analysis of pedagogical scientific and methodological literature and pedagogical experience on the use of various diagnostic methods and tools is carried out. At the same time, it analyzes how STEM education is established in primary schools, which areas are used to form the subject skills of younger schoolchildren. The contradictions in the direction of the formation of subject knowledge and STEM knowledge are recognized, the need for the introduction of new methods and technologies is justified. A control program is proposed at the ascertaining stage of experimental work. The conclusion contains scientifically based recommendations.
