Abstract

The article discusses the principles of developing oratory skills in 10th-11th grade students through the cognitive acquisition of phraseological units. The role of eloquence in the modern education system and its impact on the intellectual and communicative development of the learner’s personality are comprehensively described. The author analyzes the anthropocentric, cognitive, communicative, axiological, and linguocultural approaches as key directions in teaching the art of eloquence. It addresses the linguistic status and cognitive function of these units, as well as their role in developing language competence. In teaching students rhetorical skills using fixed expressions, their knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience are taken into account. The goal is to develop students' ability to use words appropriately in various speech situations and to express their thoughts vividly and effectively using phraseological units.

Nowadays, the importance of developing oratory skills in 10th-11th grade students through the cognitive acquisition of phraseological units is increasing. This is due to the need to enhance students' speech culture, perceive language as an integral part of national and cultural values, and consider linguistic, educational, social, and ethnocultural aspects of language as a whole. Lessons in the Kazakh language are aimed at developing students' logical thinking, intellectual abilities, and communicative skills. There is also an emphasis on strengthening motivation for language acquisition and focusing on the ultimate outcome of acquired knowledge. The strengthening of requirements for mastering speech skills among school students is caused by the youth’s lack of attention to language purity, their inability to convey thoughts clearly, and their failure to deliver speech expressively and artistically. It is also due to the insufficient theoretical and methodological research aimed at developing school students' oratory skills through cognitive acquisition of phraseological units.
