The article addresses the current issue of pre-vocational training for children with intellectual disabilities. It analyzes the current state, problems of vocational guidance for students in special schools, and the prospects for the development of their pre-vocational training. The importance of systematic and comprehensive pedagogical activities in vocational guidance and pre-vocational training for students with intellectual disabilities is demonstrated as a way to address potential problems in their post-school life. The terminological definition of the concept of "pre-vocational training" is discussed.
The article presents brief results from a specially organized survey of special school teachers, which highlights certain issues in organizing career guidance counselling for children with intellectual disabilities: the lack of specialized pedagogical education among labor training teachers, complicating their ability to carry out this work professionally; weak material resources (lack of new equipment and modern materials); insufficient educational and methodological resources in technology classrooms; and difficulties in motivating students with intellectual disabilities for future professional activities.
