Nowadays the assessment of academic achievements is one of the multifaceted aspects of school education,
playing the role of a formative, motivating, determining, guiding factor in the learning process. Learning
assessment is constantly developing and expanding. The history of the development of students’ academic
achievementsstarts from teachers’ activity, which is written in works of ancient philosophers. Currently
assessment is being considered in accordance with a new stage, adapting to the technical progress of our time.
The article examines the history of the development of the learning assessment system in the global
educational space, as well as studies the opinions of great Kazakh thinkers and teachers.
