Abstract

In the article, the problem of psychological and pedagogical support of professional self-determination of teenagers is analyzed. Choosing a future profession is an important stage of personality development and this is a very sensitive period. The choice of profession has a significant impact on life during the period of study at college/university and subsequent professional activity. A survey of 1st year students was conducted. Information was received that career orientation work was conducted with all students, but its effectiveness was low. This is the reason for this phenomenon. Methodological aspects of the organization of support for the professional self-determination of teenagers were analyzed. Increasing the teenager's awareness of existing professions allows him to expand his professional worldview and make the choice more conscious. A special role should be given to individuals with psychodiagnostics abilities. They do not determine the future profession but allow them to master it successfully. Motivation and willpower play a key role in choosing a future profession. It is worth considering that for teenagers there can be a characteristic lability of professional preferences. During the discussion, the key mistakes that teenagers can make when choosing a future profession are defined.
