Abstract

This article reveals the main content of social - pedagogical activity at school. An analysis of literary sources on the problem of social support  for schoolchildren and their families is given. The need for the presence of a social pedagogue in educational institutions is emphasized. The author gives a professional description of a specialist in social work in the education system. The results of a survey of teachers and parents who are in demand by social work specialists in the modern environment are used. The directions of pedagogical work of a social pedagogue are revealed in detail. One of the main directions stands out socially - diagnostic, which forms the basis for correctional - educational programs with difficult children at school. A key place is given to counseling on the protection of children's rights. Legal education is an integral part of the work of a social educator.
