In the situation of digitalization, the teacher is required to make such didactic solutions that, in the context of the discipline being studied, will ensure the motivation of students, their cognitive activity, the ability of students to generate new knowledge and assimilate it, and, ultimately, the formation and development of their social and professional competencies that meet the needs modern economy and society. The teacher should take a sensible approach to determining the scenarios of students' activities, forms of cognitive interaction, to the selection of digital tools, didactic materials and other resources, the integration of which will provide conditions and opportunities for a comfortable and productive educational process. The solution of the indicated problems can be provided through the use of pedagogical design technology. The purpose of the study: to update the role of pedagogical design as a technology focused on the design and implementation of learning strategies that meet the requirements of modernity. The study used an integrative approach to identify the theoretical foundations of pedagogical design. Empirical data were obtained in the process of online survey and analysis of students' statements regarding the distance learning format. The results and materials presented in the article can be used in the development of a course of pedagogical design for students of educational programs in pedagogical areas, as well as become the basis for further research.
