The implementation of digital technologies in the modern education system makes it possible to organize the learning process more efficiently, especially for students learning English in higher education institutions and for instructors teaching this subject. More than 100 universities in Kazakhstan have implemented the information system “Platonus”, which allows to automate the credit system and distance learning technologies. It has a centralized database that displays all important events and processes of the university. However, despite the advantages, the system has a number of obstacles, such as the lack of individual adaptation to the needs of teachers and students.
This research paper will focus on the impact of digital transformation in education on English language teaching, including an exploration of the use of online LMS (Learning Management System) platforms. The purpose of the study is to analyze the effectiveness of LMS platforms in English language teaching for learners and teachers, their role in the educational process, and the interactivity and accessibility of online tutorials. Methodologically, the study was done by analyzing the experience of using online LMS platforms such as Moodle and OTC Program in English language learning using comparative and quantitative methods. To study the problem, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 185 respondents who use and do not use online platforms during classes. The results of the study can serve as evidence that LMS platforms can increase learners' motivation in English language teaching, make learning materials more accessible and adapt the learning process according to individual needs. According to the results obtained, the factors that hinder the effectiveness of online platforms are also identified, which are technical difficulties and insufficient level of digital competence of learners.
