Abstract

This article examines studies of speech development in early childhood conducted by Kazakh and international scientists from various fields. Speech delay is a common phenomenon in early childhood. It is often associated with other disorders, such as sensory processing disorders, speech disorders, and emotional-volitional disorders. This can be a serious problem, as speech delay often negatively impacts mental health and can hinder development in adulthood. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a multisensory approach as an intervention for overcoming speech delay in early childhood. Since the problem under consideration is of particular social significance, it is necessary to seek solutions based on scientific research. The proposal for a multisensory approach in speech therapy stems from its effectiveness, as it simultaneously activates all of the child's analytical functions, providing a comprehensive effect. This also positively influences the development of all components of the child's speech and communication skills in early childhood. Only studies published between 2018 and 2024 were considered. The study results highlight the need for Kazakhstan to adopt the successful practices of international intervention programs and refine its own strategies for improving the situation of young children with speech impairments.

The information presented in this article can be used by practitioners to supplement theoretical knowledge, as well as by researchers studying speech development in young children.
