This article is aimed at exploring the importance of developing practical competence among biology students through the biological education. Biological education included a particularly important role in the training of future specialists who solve practical problems. This is since in the context of modern education, moving from theoretical knowledge to practical skills, special attention is paid to the importance of practical training using living organisms for the development of professional skills of future biology teachers. The purpose of this study is to determine the importance of the formation of practical competence among biology students through the study of animals, as well as to assess the impact of this process on the development of their professional skills and readiness for pedagogical activity in the field of biology. This article analyzes various methods of practical training, such as laboratory work, field research and practical training with animals in their natural environment. The analysis is based on current research in the field of education, including literary sources, as well as educational initiatives in Kazakhstan. To achieve the purpose of the study, a questionnaire was conducted among students of biological specialties at universities in Kazakhstan. The questionnaire included questions about students' preferences and perceptions regarding the importance of practical training using animals in their professional training. The results of the study confirm the importance of integrating practical methods into the curricula of biological specialties to effectively prepare students for the modern challenges of scientific activity. The analysis of the poll data provides valuable information for educational program developers, as well as supports the need to strengthen the practical component in the training of biologists.
