The relevance of managerial competence in education, especially in the training of future teachers of physical education, is due to modern challenges that require from teachers not only professionalism, but also the skills of effective management of educational processes. The article reveals that management in education includes planning, coordination and control of educational processes. Effective management requires competencies in planning, decision-making, communication and motivation of the team.

The managerial competence of a teacher means the ability to make informed managerial decisions using the skills of planning and effective use of educational resources and pedagogical technologies and practices. The article reveals that the results of assessment of the formation of managerial competence of future teachers of physical education and sport can provide information about the current state of competence and identify the need for additional training.  The necessity of developing managerial skills in education, especially in the context of training specialists in physical education, for effective solution of modern educational tasks is emphasized.
