Abstract

This article emphasizes the importance of developing geospatial-thinking skills in students when teaching global problems of humanity. This is because the modern world is witnessing many complex global problems, such as climate change, ecosystem degradation, population growth and social inequalities. To effectively solve these problems, it is necessary to develop students' geospatial thinking skills that will allow them to analyze and understand the relationships between various geographical factors. Geospatial thinking skills include the ability to analyze spatial data, interact with geographic information systems, and use geographic information to make informed decisions. It also helps students to realize the global scale of problems and understand their causes and consequences. Therefore, the article presents the results of a survey confirming that the formation of geospatial thinking skills of students contributes to their critical thinking, develops skills of analysis and problem solving, and contributes to the development of information literacy and geographical awareness. The results of the survey suggest the integration into educational programs of various approaches and methods that can be used when teaching global problems of humanity to form geospatial-thinking skills. The authors of the article focus on the use of geographical information systems, cartographic tools and spatial analyses in the educational process. This approach helps students to study problems in depth and analyze them from a geographical perspective, also contributes to the development of environmental awareness and civic responsibility of students. The conclusions of the study consist of recommendations supporting the need to develop appropriate educational programs and methods that contribute to the formation of these skills in students.
